Moral Injuries

As an artist and psychologist, my work explores the interface between artistic representation, collective trauma and healing.  For the past 15 years I have worked extensively as a therapist and consultant with war reporters and photographers, humanitarian workers, human rights practitioners and military veterans who were involved in the recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.  In this series Moral Injuries, I give an embodied and visual expression of my own experience as a witness to the moral struggles that accompany the traumas of war. Painting is a visceral outlet that enables me to maintain moral clarity and to be a better listener.
